S. V. Subramanian (SVS), is a Commerce Graduate, holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management and is an Associate Member of ICSI.

SVS worked with a major Indian technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing and financial services conglomerate with global operations, Larsen & Toubro Limited for over 50 years where he had the opportunity to develop and learn the best management practices. His analytical ability, objectivity, inter-personal skills and legal mind were responsible for his elevation as Deputy Company Secretary in 1984 and as Company Secretary and Vice President (Legal & Corporate Affairs) in 1993.

SVS spearheaded several corporate legal battles during his tenure, notable amongst them were dealing with the take-over attempt by a large corporate which ran for several years, acquisition and merger of a cement company, defending the Company in a fierce winding up litigations threatening the existence of the company working with a battery of top lawyers of the country, team leader for the first of its kind demerger of entire cement business and restructuring of capital, framing of rules and implementation of Employee Stock Option Scheme and so on.

He was associated with the incorporation of associate and subsidiary companies of the group. He has witnessed the top management changes right from the founder till the current management team. He was a Director of several group companies and also served as founder-trustee of the conglomerate’s Employees Welfare Foundation.

He was a member of the Secretarial Standards Board of ICSI during 2005 and served as its Chairman from 2006 to 2013. During this period, the Board deliberated, developed and released several standards, guidance notes and clarifications for the use of Corporates and professionals.

With his immense experience of over five decades and wisdom, he mentors SAGE in its journey towards creating a niche for itself as a Governance Advisory.
